The second album of this intense Thrash Metal band from Mexico is also their best so far. This time not only the production is more adept to their style, but the band decides to touch many territories within the Thrash / Speed / Heavy Metal realm, without drifting away too much from their essence. If there is a style more present here is the American way of Speed / Thrash Metal, with a big touch of American Hardcore. I can also sense a bit of the Thrash party attitude but instead of becoming a total joke as it is the case with many other similar styled bands, they just show they enjoy and have fun playing. Also I must mention that vocalist Cesar now uses more variation in his voice thus adding a greater variety. The maturity this band has reached can be heard in the track ‘Destroy All Monsters’ where in one minute they remind of ICED EARTH whilst in the other they sound like FORBIDDEN, and there are more than a few really good Death Metal touches, without sounding this forced or out of context. The band has also taken good care of all the visual aspects as they even have a mascot in a form of a almost blue-lagoon with a piranha face which seems to enjoy to thrash and smoke weed. This album has also been edited in Japan, and even if I am not really that much into the Thrash Metal revival thing, I know these guys are doing it for passion and they are without a doubt up with the best of the bands of the style nowadays. www.myspace.com/piranaattack, www.alprods.net

The name of the band refers to that fish in South America which is known for their hunger and sharp teeth and is quite dangerous if attacks in groups. For those into extreme Metal for long time, it also refers to a song by EXODUS from their first album, and which was also the name of a band fronted by Paul Baloff for some time while he was out of the band. In this case, we have the second full length album of this Mexican band, which as you might have guessed plays Thrash Metal all the way. There are some slight Hardcore touches overall but more in the crossover vein like D.R.I. or CRUMBSUCKERS, whereas their Thrash Metal is more based on NUCLEAR ASSAULT, early METALLICA and ANTHRAX. One can listen that the final idea of the band is to have a good time and they are not trying to show no one if they are this or that, they do have a very honest approach. And the performance and recording qualities here are quite very good. Still, if you are not a follower of “mosh” or Thrashcore Metal sounding bands, you will have to look somewhere else. This is Metal to have a good party time, and with a message if you read the lyrics. There is a Japanese edition that contains a couple of bonus tracks. www.alprods.net, www.myspace.com/piranaattack
