Sometimes, when bands do split releases, you get two different musical approaches and two different productions in sound and technique. Also, for the most part, it is always based on a similar ideology or genre. Some almost are alike in sound and with this release from PODRIDÃO and CONVULSIVE, they both have a very similar approach. You can almost at times think it is the same band, but with just slightly different production values. Since both bands hail from Brazil that could be a factor as well. All in all, what you get is heavy INCANTATION worship and also maybe CIANIDE. The production is similar too. I would say that CONVULSIVE is harsher, and a bit more primal in their delivery. There is an evil aura in their sound, and in their image as well. Personally, I lean a bit more toward PODRIDÃO in their overall sound. They have a slight Thrash element to their sound and also you can hear the bass rumble along with the overall riffing. It’s a longer split as well, with both bands submitting 5 songs each and a total run time of about 45 minutes. So it is cool with things being a bit different and you can enjoy it for both what the bands have to offer. One of the better splits I have come across lately. If there is anything I can complain about, I am not a fan of the cover art. Interesting idea but the actual result doesn’t work for me.
