This split tape featuring the Hungarian band PRINCEPS DAEMONUM and longtime running Dutch HELL ICON offers two sides of rituals, dark droning noisy Black Metal, summoning the beasts from below and within. Especially the music from HELL ICON is ritual. Ambient soundscapes made with distortion and feedback from the guitars, and percussion-like drumming, laying the backbone for the summoning noise, noise which is quite structured and has a meaning. The wicked screams and incantations are working fine, together with the simple drumpatters and noisy sounds, and makes up for a whole structure. It is actually quite good and well made. It is their digitally released EP "Sic Transit Gloria Carnis" from 2012 that is featured here. PRINCEPS DAEMONUM, the Hungarian masters of madness, do also unleash a ritual upon us. Simple guitar riffing, quite dark droning, and a simple though effectful beat, again in the slow droning manner, and often there is more guitar than drums, until it explodes into a raw frenzy uptempo attack on all senses. And utterly sick vocals, that fits this scenario so well! A great release with two very interesting and dark bands, that should satisfy all into occult and ritual Black Metal with a sick and noisy twist. I’m hooked.
