PUSTILENCE
Beliefs Of Dead Stargazers And Soothsayers
(Memento Mori)
45:25min

Wait, what? What did I just hear? The sick brigade of PUSTILENCE hail from Brisbane, Australia and play unforgiving Australian’esque Death Metal that will simply melt your face away. Without even having to go further, you notice the incredibly powerful vocals hitting you like a sledgehammer, hammering across your mind for 45 minutes straight. Well, what about the rest of the band? They’re equally brilliant, chipping away any negatives associated with the genre they simply put their heads down and go about their business. I’m really enjoying the overall sound of “Beliefs Of Dead Stargazers And Soothsayers”. I’d have liked for the vocals to be mixed a bit low, but I don’t mind what I’m listening to either. The war-like rhythm section that supports the vocalist truly shines on this release, but I’d have still liked for the backend to be at the same level as the vocals. PUSTILENCE lean on the traditional old school Death Metal for inspiration, but have clearly put their own spin on the final sound. Australian Death Metal seems to do this from time to time, remember ACHERON / ABRAMELIN? Man, if you want to give this a try, I’d recommend checking out the track ‘Profound Assiduity’, what an absolute banger! The band is at full force here and the musicians shine through, absolutely relentless and filled with the deepest of the rage but it still sticks to a melody that transcribes the message of the band quite clearly! It sucks you right into their world without you even noticing. Absolutely brilliant! I’m really excited for PUSTILENCE! This is a killer album!
