Losing Faith

“Losing Faith” is the third full length album of the German Thrash Metal band PYRACANDA from the area of Rhineland-Palatinate. A total of ten tracks for 45 minutes released by FHM Records. An album that comes out five years after the 2020 reunion and 32 years after the band’s break-up in 1992. These guys are a well known name for Thrash Metal enthusiasts due to their top quality debut album “Two Sides Of A Coin”, released in 1990. A great band from the past that unfortunately made their debut too late, in a year that represented the swansong of the original Teutonic Thrash scene. PYRACANDA haven’t lost their inspiration and are back with a good album of solid and genuine Thrash Metal with some melodic and modern vibes. There are three members of the original line-up: Dennis Vaupel (guitars), Dieter Wittbecker (bass) and Hansi Nefen (vocals). PYRACANDA play a very interesting mixture of classic Thrash with some Power and Speed influences. The sound is original and the compositions show an articulated and technical approach in the songwriting, but without following in boring and hyper progressive territories. The production is clean and polished, maybe too much, which risks to slip in a glossy sound. However the songs are great and well executed. PYRACANDA have aggression, musicianship, melody, speed and precision. To me the weakest point is the cheesy digital cover artwork, not really my cup of tea, especially when we’re listening to an album of a band that in 1990 worked with Joachim Luetke (PROTECTOR, DESTRUCTION, MEKONG DELTA etc.). In conclusion, “Losing Faith” is a very good album from a legendary band from the late ’80s. www.facebook.com/pyracanda1990, www.facebook.com/fhmetal
