QUANTUM HIERARCHY
Neutron Breed

Sometimes I’m a real danger seeker… I left it to our editor to pick a record for me to review. His choice was the first release of the Italian three piece QUANTUM HIERARCHY from the town of Brescia. “Neutron Breed” is an EP with just three rather short songs (hence the running time!) plus one intro that sounds like its name: ‘Frequency Disturbance Through Spheres’. Musically, QUANTUM HIERARCHY are not really a disturbance of frequencies, but a technical Death Metal act with some preferences for the outer space. But be they as technically skilled as they are, the brutal stuff on “Neutron Breed” is sometimes a little bit too much in outer space for my taste. In other words: the breaks in the title track or ‘The Third Of Capricornus’ on one hand are good for the diversity. But on the other hand it seems to me that QUANTUM HIERARCHY want too much, at the cost of audibility. Especially the final ‘Mausoleum Of Eternal Absence’ is a tough nut, this is songwriting on the edge of madness. Danger seeking implies more dangers than I thought… But to return to seriousness: any lover of technical and brutal Death Metal will surely enjoy the stuff on “Neutron Breed”, particularly the not too clean, very natural sound is fine with me as well.
