Metal Gear

"Skull-splitting Metal…"? Sounds like something worth checking out in my books for sure. RANGER is a 3-piece relentless and very vicious sounding Finnish Metal squad that obviously adores all things nostalgic and retro. Prior to the band latest attempt – this 3-track demo titled "Metal Gear", RANGER recorded their debut demo "Enter The Zone" back in 2009, which brought them a sufficient amount of attention in some underground circles of people. The "Metal Gear" cassette demo (indeed… a cassette demo. Ha, so old school to the bone) comes violently on our faces even more focused to kick some heads off, making us suffer from deep blue balls, too. This stuff truly gives a good and pleasingly hurting kick to our private area in the name of tape trading scene, worn-out jeans, denim vests – and first and foremost, an honest and sincere sounding Speed, Thrash and Death Metal. RANGER seem to be on fuckin’ fire on this – sort of rehearsal standard ‘demo’, making me immediately think of the tape trading days some 25 years ago. Combine some early SLAYER rehearsal demos with pure and raw Speed Metal elements of LA – based SCEPTRE’s 1983 demo – and then mix those with the ripping evilness of NECROVORE’s "Divus De Mortuus" 1987 demo, and you get some sort of an indicative idea about RANGER’s sound on their 2nd demo cassette (which has a pro-printed color cover, with the band’s logo only). Just on rare occasions one gets to hear something this retro or old school, in other words RANGER gets my 100% undivided support – and undoubtedly deserves to be supported by all of you as well. Fucking A!! More about RANGER can be found at: www.facebook.com/rangerheavymetal
