“Ascension To The Chaos” is a compilation, featuring the releases after the debut “Lucifer’s Cosmogony” from 2018. These are the two songs from the demo “F***ck Off Lambs!!!”, the “Ascension To The Chaos Axis” EP and three live songs, recorded at CreaRock, Santiago de Chile. REBIRTH IN FLAMES are a Black Metal band, active since 2008 and despite hailing from Chile they sound pretty much Swedish. Especially MARDUK and DARK FUNERAL seem to be a big influence. Particularly both songs of the demo are so influenced by the latter, that even the cover of the digital demo (same like this compilation) looks like another version of the DARK FUNERAL logo. The three songs on the EP have a similar style, although the sound here is less powerful, but still absolutely appealing. Regarding songwriting the songs are a bit more melodic and epic, which can also be seen in the playing time, on average seven minutes. About the three live tracks, well I doubt that the band did themselves a favor. Nothing against a raw and untreated sound, but this is already close to the border of inaudibility. Recently, while cleaning up, I found a CRADLE OF FILTH bootleg tape from 1996, which sounds pretty much the same.
