Modern Beast
(Marquee Records)

Lately the Brazilian based Marquee Records has been releasing both, brutal albums from the classic 80s South American scene and some really good albums from recent bands. And REVIOLENCE (also from Brazil) is no exception. Their brand of modern Thrash Metal may appeal to both, the seasoned veteran Thrasher and the new fan alike. The lead guitar work is outstanding. The leads are tasteful and neatly placed. Bass and drum work provide a great backbone for some really good riffs. In my humble opinion, the drum sound is a bit too processed and a few vocal parts are a little out of tune but that’s about it. This is Thrash Metal, isn’t it? I can hear a clear influence from FORBIDDEN’s “Green” album, since the mix of classic and modern Thrash is very present, specially on the vocals, that reminded me of Mr. Russ Anderson himself. But make no mistake. REVIOLENCE is no copycat and they will Thrash you around with a solid debut. www.myspace.com/reviolence, www.reviolencemetal.com, www.marquee.com.br
