RISE AND SHINE

Though this is the first time I’ve ever heard of them, RISE AND SHINE have been releasing music since 1993, and not just any kind of music. Their brand of good old, fun time Heavy Metal recalls the glory of elder days as well as brightens hopes for the future, which many Metalheads dread. Not without reason, of course. RISE AND SHINE’s style borrows heavily from NWOBHM bands like SATAN and BLITZKRIEG. Songs such as ‘In The Arms Of Death’ and the anthemic ‘I Don’t Belong’, rock steadily, perfect for fist-pumping and honorary swigs of beer on a Harley Davidson barreling down the highway. The guitars accompany one another in their melodies, creating a haunting kind of effect, much like JUDAS PRIEST used to do. ‘Someone Else’s Share’ demonstrates RISE AND SHINE are completely unafraid to slow things down, or accelerate to a galloping, IRON MAIDEN pace, complete with passionate and thankfully lengthy soloing. The only really negative thing I have to say about this record is I don’t know when the vinyl version will arrive! www.myspace.com/flowerpowermetal, www.ihate.se
