Killing for booze… I have nothing to lose, except my beloved booze, Gambina. The Finnish sort of ‘cult-ish’ Hardcore / ‘Surmacore’ (i.e. Thrashcore) heroes RYTMIHÄIRIÖ (a Finnish work for arrhythmia) are back with their 6th studio album titled "Todellisuuden Mestari", which is a Finnish translation straight taken from SAB’s "Master Of Reality" album. However, RYTMIHÄIRIÖ doesn’t have much to do with SAB’s realm of Heavy Rock / Metal at all music wise, expect probably having bits and pieces of the same magical grooviness in their music as Iommi & co. have in the band. Enough of that though. On "Todellisuuden Mestari", these Finnish storytellers of the mighty Gambina, extended booze fests of Finnish bums, gay love and brutal killings done in the name of Gambina of course, have peeled their skin off quite a bit, dropping down some of their speedy moments that they had on their previous 3 albums – and added a bit more mid-paced, groovier parts into their stuff. In fact, that works out just fine for them in sincere my opinion, providing a slightly more variety for the songs. Just think of getting ENTOMBED’s "Wolverine Blues" combined with some wicked SLAYEResque riffs, entirely Finnish sung songs, totally Hardcor-ish attitide – and you have a pretty unusual combination of variety how RYTMIHÄIRIÖ sounds like on "Todellisuuden Mestari". Of course it’s a sheer advantage if you are a Finn, just to understand better the band’s true yet so funny philosophy about their nearest surroundings and shit. The band’s raw humour simply sinks very well to me, and I always tend to have this wide grin on my face while at the same time reading their lyrics when listening to the album. But hell yeah, I have always found RYTMIHÄIRIÖ’s stuff very appealing for myself; there’s just something ‘so Finnish’ to them that it’s very hard for me to dislike this unique ‘Surmacore’ act. And in fact, I am not alone with my thoughts though: when "Todellisuuden Mestari" was released, it reached the 4th position in the Finnish official album charts during the same week. Quite unbelievable but at the same time, not so much. Gambina? What’s that all about I can hear you asking curiously. Well, it’s a cheap liquid that gives you the power of 6 adult man. Don’t suggest you to try that out though. Go to find out more about RYTMIHÄIRIÖ at: www.surmacore.com, label: www.sakararecords.com
