A three minute instrumental including some damn nice funeral church bells at the end – an effect I never grow tired of counting as a plus – and then you’re properly prepared for a flawless journey into the darkness with this Finland-based Black Metal commando consisting of members from UNCREATION’S DAWN, EVIL, ANGEL, GOATSODOMY etc.! Supported by an organic, kick-ass production SACRILEGIOUS IMPALEMENT deliver a traditional yet really entertaining slab of infernal music that combines influences from classic MAYHEM with roaring, partially almost growled vokillz, guitar riffs that venture from straight-forward chord-strumming into Death Metallic sections, slow atmospheric, nicely fukked up sounding parts and lyrics hoping for mankind to perish rather sooner than later to make room for Satan’s almighty glory. Tracks such as the diverse ‘Holy Terror’ or BATHORY-ian ‘March Of Doom’ which mounts in a devastating Thrash vs. Black Metal-riff battle satisfy every traditionalist’s needs whereas the melodies in ‘Baptism By Blood’ or ‘Utterly Rotten’ could have worked out well on a WATAIN or DISSECTION album. But enough namedropping, SACRILEGIOUS IMPALEMENT will not win a Grammy for inventiveness, but their quality, impact and marksmanship while assaulting the listener with a filthy, rotten and hateful bastard between Black, Death and Thrash works perfectly for me! I can imagine that this band should rip your balls off live and I really hope to hear more from the "Utterly Rotten" pack from Finland in the future!
