There is an old saying that several ways are leading to Rom but never heard of an American band which has to visit mother Russia to release their music. For SANCTUS INFERNUM this is the case and even if it was a long way the final result is what counts. The band from Kansas is playing let’s call it from the start Death Metal with several Doom influences and not the other way around. They seem to be heavily inspired by the second wave of American Death Metal bands and furthermore when the band is working with acoustic guitars, it’s like listening to TIAMAT when these guys still had balls. This debut is maybe not the best Death Metal release since years but especially the headbang friendly groove of the 8 songs supported by the lyrics (‘The Journey Back’) which are closely working together are a big bonus of this release. SANCTUM INFERNUM’s debut is maybe not a totally essential album but still worth to be released to a wider audience than the small crowd of the local Wichita country club. http://solitude-prod.com, www.myspace.com/sanctusinfernum
