The debut album of this unholy band from Finland, formed back in 2006. Upon hearing the words Finland and Black Metal, many things come to a Metallers mind, as there is without a doubt a very special sound that in every extreme Metal style defines the bands coming from this country. In this case, SATURNIAN MIST delivers a quite different form of Black Metal, that has its roots in traditional Black Metal bands from all eras, being it VENOM, BATHORY, DARKTHRONE (and from all DARKTHRONE eras) with a touch of Death’n’Roll mixed in for a strange brew of evil music. They also managed to have a very personal sound and production, where it sounds quite raw and noisy, yet at the same time powerful and well produced. And the album also shows an interesting mixture of speed and tempos, and the band probably shines a lot more in the heavy mid-tempo songs like in ‘Consecration Of The Temple’. The vocals are also a bit away form the common Black Metal style, and they reminded me, at times, of Nergal from BEHEMOTH. The promo package of the label comes with the design of this CD released in a fantastic digipak version, with a great detail in all the aspect of presentation, starting from the cover art to the whole booklet design. This speaks A LOT for the artist and the label, when they present to us, the fans, such a work of passion that completes music in such a majestic way. All this makes this album a quite good choice for those looking for a more complex form of black art music, of a band I can sense they still have better things to deliver in a near future… For more info go www.saturnianmist.net, www.ahdistuksenaihio.com
