SCRÜDA is a Black / Thrash Metal band from Poland and is here with their first full-length album “Fury Among Ruins”, released this January of 2025 via Godz Ov War Productions. The band was formed in 2022, so they’ve only been around for a couple of years, however, they already have one single, one split and one demo. “Fury Among Ruins” contains 10 short tracks of fiery, old school sound, packed under just 19 minutes but is enough to trap you. Right from the opening track, ‘Philosophy’, SCRÜDA wastes no time in establishing their furious pace, blending trashy riffs and vocals with the aggression and sound that captures your attention. ‘Lone Duelist’ follows in the same vein, presenting an unmistakable sense of speed, yet with a dark undertone that easily takes you back to their classic Black Metal influences. Then with tracks like ‘Ape From Hell’ and ‘Hellfire Glow’ SCRÜDA puts the album’s energy on the table, their characteristic vibe displayed on their previous releases, while the latter slows things down just enough to enhance the atmosphere before it picks up again. The vocal delivery remains harsh and commanding throughout, balancing perfectly with the aggression of the instruments. I really liked the vocals as they are able to take me back to that same atmosphere a band like GRAVE MIASMA will always take me. In the latter half, songs like ‘Frozen Heart’, which reminded me of the classic BATHORY track ‘A Fine Day To Die’, then ‘Bonded By Hate’ and ‘Vile Alliance’, continue to show the band’s intention to remain cohesive. The album finishes with ‘When A World Ended’, a track that definitely closes the door. With “Fury Among Ruins”, SCRÜDA is here to stay. I look forward to hearing how this band evolves in the future.
