SEPOLCRO from Italy has been formed in 2011 and they have released their first demo in 2013, which now has been re-issued by Unholy Domain Records. The name of the demo, as well as the record label reveal, what is to expect from this three-piece from Verona. Old school rotten Death Metal is the program. Musicwise a lot of the Voices readers should find, what they are yearning for. After a short intro, the band starts their raw old school stuff influenced by the glory underground days of the late 80s and early 90s. Typical Death Metal in vein of MORBID ANGEL with some Scandinavian and some Doom Metal influences as well, takes you back to the good old days, when music was dirty and raw. The vocals are fitting well into the program, varying between normal grunts and Black Metal influenced caws, as well the the fine Death Metal guitar work. Especially the third track ‘Cruifixion’ is a groovy Death Metal wrecking ball and its lead guitar work is really killer. The only weaker part is the drumming, which is partly ok but still a bit improvable in my opinion. What really impresses me, is the typical Death Metal artwork of the 90s. I still love bands using this kind of stuff for their covers nowadays. All in all a quite good demo release and worth checking out for all underground lunatics and cassette collectors.
