SEPTIC FLESH
Sumerian Daemons

I don’t want to sound disrespectful, because I really appreciate what greek SEPTIC FLESH have achieved with their ’94 debut "Mystic Places Of Dawn" and their MLP in 1991, but this effort is absolutely awful! Samples and electronic effects, classical female vocals, orchestral synths, Death Metal growling mixed with a clean male voice at the same time is alltogether simply a bit too much for me. The production (Studio Fredman) is very good and provides enough transparency to make every facette of the complex SEPTIC FLESH sound audible, but personally I think that it is a bit overloaded. To speak objectively, I think, that fans of occult, modern, symphonic Death Metal should check this out, you might really love it, because SEPTIC FLESH are musically not bad. Powerful riffs, a skilled variation between aggressive and atmospheric moments and very individual melodies. I do not get much off this CD, but it would be wrong to tell you SEPTIC FLESH are total shit, "Sumerian Daemons" just was not made for me. Sorry.
