SERPENT SPELLS is a trio hailing from Dhaka in Bangladesh. Active since 2014, these guys play blackend Death Metal and have just released their first four track EP “Mantras Within Ascending Fire” via Godz Ov War Productions. The oOpener ‘Prism Of Flesh (Entrance)’ starts with acoustic guitars and choral elements but is a bit lame to be honest so the horde only can unleash their power with the second track ‘Piercing The Cervix Of Nehemah’, a real Black / Death Metal thunderstorm influenced by bands like MARDUK, DARK FUNERAL completed with some dirty vocals in the vein of DARKTHRONE mixed with some KRISIUN. The third track ‘Scourge Heretic Consecration’ lets them speed up their inferno with really fine riffing, precise drumming and cool breaks and again harsh vocals. The last and title track ‘Mantras Within Ascending Fire’ is again uncompromising brutal Death / Black Metal. Overall a really enjoyable first release with a proper clear and powerful production and a really fine and well-fitting cover artwork.
