SEXTRASH
Sexual Carnage

The name SEXTRASH was unknown to me and I thought this is a new release. Some awesome piece of high-speed Thrash Metal, with a slight touch of Black Metal, perfectly catching the spirit of the mid / late 1980s. I was happy about a band playing 2015 like it was 1985. Sometimes the output made me think of listening to some undiscovered ANTHRAX tunes, more the North American way of eighties Thrash Metal. But then I discovered “Sexual Carnage” is a re-release, originally published in the year 1990. The band from Brazil was formed in 1987 and the output at hand is the debut full-length. I guess if the band was located in the United States Of America or Germany they would have become more famous, but life is pretty unfair, sometimes (just read the latest ATOMIC AGGRESSOR review on this site). Of course it may be possible that the band actually is well-known and has some reputation, but believe me, I never ever noticed the name SEXTRASH. Regarding this release there are, concerning the music, no weak points to discover. The sound is forceful and transparent, the re-mastering was very well done. The cover (and even more the inner sleeve) is of course purely a matter of taste, but I remember a similar SLAYER photo. So maybe a kind of homage or tribute. “Sexual Carnage” comes in a CD digipak with the “XXX” EP and an unreleased demo-tape (intro plus a coverversion of ‘Satanas’ by SARCÓFAGO) as bonus tracks. And Greyhaze Records even decided to put out different vinyl editions: 180 gram vinyl, 700 units in black vinyl and 300 units in flesh-colored vinyl (matching cover color scheme). Seems to be much dedication, not someone being out to make a quick buck. The only fact I do not understand and can not agree is writing “trash” (garbage; junk) instead of “thrash” (to strike or beat violently; batter). Maybe it is some kind of humor, whatever. www.facebook.com/sextrashofficial, www.greyhazerecords.com
