The German underground, especially if it comes to all kind of Pagan Metal combos, is currently a very efficient machinery and the expected burnout of this new scene is more a solid fact than future telling. SKADY – the old goddess of the hunt – is a further newcomer and their style can be very easily summarized as typical German Pagan Metal. Maybe this has in some way a negative touch, which was not the intention, but after listening to their debut release, which still owns a demo character in some way, a handful of bands coming into my mind especially one band which dominated the growing scene over a couple of years – RIGER. Founded in 2006 they are releasing their official debut album with “Eyn Raunen Im Tannicht” and next to the typical war tunes the band offers also some more traditional tunes (‘Der Mühe Lohn’) which gives this release a refreshing note. Luckily this isn’t another “drink beer and have fun” album with a lot of metalized blood in its veins – a solid underground release which again shows that Pagan Metal needs to concentrate on the second word Metal to in order to survive the next decade. www.myspace.com/skadymetal, www.asatru-klangwerke.com
