SKULL FIST
Heavier Than Metal

SKULL FIST comes from the Canadian metropolis of Toronto and made its debut in 2006 with an explicitly titled demo called “No False Metal”. Since then they never stopped their heavy motor force and released an EP, a split and three full-lengths to establish their name and sound in the forever roaring and inspiring Canadian scene. This EP (which was released four years after their debut) highly smells of traditionality and reeks of vintage attitude. Not only the band name, as well as the title of their current disc make the guesswork of what the inclined listener gets pretty easy. Heavy Metal in its exciting form! The Canadians have a total of five tracks on “Heavier Than Metal” in the talon, all of them characterized by wonderful guitar melodies as well as solo passages that are no less reminiscent of “back then”. The rather high voice of front-man Jackie Slaughter borrows from earlier heroes of the classic eras. Alison Thunderland, the lady behind the drum kit, is of course committed to the old school and knows how to present her style officially. The pace is mostly quite high, only for ‘Ride The Beast’ the Canadians tried acoustically voiced, mediterranean style melodies in the intro, which provide variety. ‘No False Metal’ as the finale of this EP, shows the strength of guitarist Sir Shred in twin guitar school and the singer screams stunningly crooked, thus made the whole composition very rousing and one of the most memorable in the period of little over 20 minutes. These Canadian maniacs are surely possessed by Heavy Metal and know how to prove their attitude musically. With all these, this EP deserves loads of spins, fists up in the air and should be an exciting opener to dive deeper into their already strong discography full of headbutting and skull fisting Heavy Metal.
