This act comes from New Hamphsire, USA, and plays Death Metal, the modern kind. Just to get some facts straight as for starters, the whole album was written within just 2 weeks, and released 10 months after. The line-up of SOLIUM FATALIS also features drummer Dirk Verbeuren who was working on SOILWORK’s latest album "The Living Infinite" while working on SOLIUM FATALIS’ debut self-titled record. Dirk has also worked with such artists as ANATOMY OF I, DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT, WARREL DANE, POWERMAD, etc. – just to name only a few, among several other acts and / or projects. What comes to SOLIUM FATALIS’ music herein, which is the most important thing of course, it’s a combination of modern Death Metal, Black Metal and bits and pieces of some FEAR FACTORY-tinged elements. The main emphasis is clearly on Death Metal – complex and of a technical kind – and in that retrospect, it’s kinda amazing to think they haven’t used more than those two weeks to write these 9 tracks for this album. I mean, the music flows very nicely on this record; having many tasteful and cool elements being involved with it. Intensity, brutality and technicality are some of the key elements here – and they are used well to make them match with each other such in a seamlessly way, giving the album certain coherency to stand out song wise. Pretty darn atmospheric and epic this stuff is too at times, occasionally managing to send a few shivers down my spine, which is always a good sign, I guess. I believe this record is something that most extreme Metal fans can appreciate; the fans of such names as BEHEMOTH, ORDER OF ENNEAD, VITAL REMAINS, etc. – you just don’t want to miss this record. Oh, and when you are reading this, SOLIUM FATALIS have already finished their 2nd album, which I am looking forward to hearing as well. Interested in founding out more about them?
