Even when STEINRAS just jumped into the Norwegian Black Metal scene last month (July 2024) and appeared with their self-titled debut full-length “Steinras” via Soulseller Records, this doesn’t mean that the band members are new to the movement. On the contrary, the band adhered very experimented musicians to their lines to deliver this album, as if features 10 tracks with 10 different vocalists: ‘En Kald Død’ feat. Skagg (ex – GAAHLSKAGG), ‘Djevelen I Minnet’ feat. Doedsadmiral (ex – NORDJEVEL), ‘Timeglasset’ feat. V’gandr (ex – HELHEIM), ‘Crawler Of The Crypt’ feat. Stud Bronson (ex – OLD FUNERAL), ‘Sands Of Time’ feat. Thomas S. Øvstedal (ex – COR SCORPII) and Roger Olsen (ex – BLAZNAGAR), ‘Sin Egen Ild’ feat. Dolgar (ex – GEHENNA), ‘Livsdans Og Dødsønske’ feat. Stig Ese (ex – SLEGEST), ‘Titus Satanicus’ feat. Thomas Eriksen (ex – MORK), ‘Dødt’ feat. Nag (ex – TSJUDER) and ‘Satanic Fate’ feat. Lars “Balfori” Larsen (ex – 1349). This confers to the album a very dynamic range, since the fact that it has one vocalist for each song will also advise of different perspectives, styles, voices, backgrounds and even energies inside the nature of the album. I definitely liked the way it was conceived, even though it’s hard to tell if the band just wanted this as a side project album, joining the forces of all the participants, or if they are going to keep this format in the future. Who knows! Whatever the case may be, STEINRAS is highlighting the main aspects of the history of Norwegian Black Metal throughout the years and putting them out perhaps with a modern vision and taste.
