Recently I met Cornelius of SOLEFALD and he described the third attack of his side project STURMGEIST as “easy listening Black Metal” – a description which I thought would never be applicable for this band without borders. Everybody who knows STURMGEIST from their first two releases via Season of Mist will expect everything – in some way you can only expect the unexpected from them – but never a true Black Metal album. The reason for this course change is the lyrical background of “Manifesto Futurista”. The major topic is the curse of humanity – war – and especially the last 100 years which offer so many occasions for bloodshed and massmurder in form of war or terrorism. So in some way this release is STURMGEIST ‘s “Panzerdivison” version but which old fan will follow the band to these grounds? The album offers 10 solid Black Metal tracks on a high aggressive level with good sound and a nice digipak – the limited version of 1000 copies is also signed by the artist – but there is no need to deny the fact that every innovation is missing. I prefer the more ‘coloured’ STURMGEIST releases with musical and lyrical surprises behind every corner – the standard colour on “Manifesto Futurista” is black and there are so many bands which can offer a far more intensive shade. www.inhuman.no, www.sturmgeist.no
