Listenable goes “Zeitgeist” !?! Pretty strange to see one of the last quality merchants in the business spewing forth something so obviously keen on following the footsteps of SOILWORK, DARKANE and the likes (??? – SOILWORK started out on Listenable Mr. Gründig – Frank). So, what you get with the debut by this Danish five-piece is melodic and sometimes fast, Thrash Metal very much in the vein like the aforementioned have established it in the late nineties. There is definitely some talent here, the playing abilities are beyond any questioning and Tue Madsen granted them with a sound that has to be called simply perfect. But I just HATE these stupid clean-voice refrains!! It’s the same shit that all these worthless Metal-core acts come up with. I’m not all against clean vocals or melodic refrains but until now I’ve never heard any good vocal line or memorable melody in this genre. I really can’t help myself but everytime they come up with their boring and inconsistent refrains I get the feeling that it’s only done to make the music more accessible to a wider audience. Cause there really seem to be a whole lotta dumbfucks out there who seem to enjoy this because it’s so very important to have something to shout along to in their oh so freaky and extreme music. After all, despite of the undisputable potential of this band it’s modern approach shouldn’t appeal to many of the readers of this site anyway, but if your girlfriend should happen to like such stuff she’d be better off with this then with the latest ear-insult by IN FLAMES. www.submission-ragecage.dk.
