SUFFERING SIGHTS
Existential Realism
(Nekrassious Tapes)
22:18min

SUFFERING SIGHTS is a relative newcomer in the strong Chilean Death Metal scene. They are already making a name within the global underground scene. Inspired by acts like MORBID ANGEL and POSSESSED plus classic Chilean monikers such as PENTAGRAM, ATOMIC AGGRESSOR and TORTURER, they released a first EP entitled “Existential Realism”. Launched initially on tape under Chile’s Misfortune Records in 2019, one year later, it was re-released on CD by Chile’s Burning Coffin Records and now is available once again on tape thanks to the French label Nekrassious Tapes. What you will find here is old school Death Metal in its purest form. After a short well-chosen intro, SUFFERING SIGHTS attack with ‘Desperate Search’, a varied track that gives you some clues about what is coming in the subsequent compositions. ‘G.E.B.’ has, probably, one of the most memorable riffs in the entire EP. You can’t deny the excellent work on guitars, even on the solos (some contemporary bands tend to forget the relevance that solos give to your brutal music – SUFFERING SIGHTS don’t). I already mentioned ATOMIC AGGRESSOR as an influence, right? Well, hear the main guitar riff from ‘The Great Filter’ and tell me if not sounds like it was taken from the “Bloody Ceremonial” demo. Pure gold! The production is well-balanced in general terms, and you can hear some reverb here and there (snare, vocals, etc.), a resource that intensifies the old school aura present in this sweet little EP. And in case you did not know, SUFFERING SIGHTS released their debut full-length last year and it’s fucking damn good. Follow their steps at www.facebook.com/suffering-sights-978909515834027.
