“One of Germany’s most brutal US-style Death Metal acts” says the info-sheet, and I can only underline every fucking word. The debut album of Suffocate Bastard offers almost the best homegrown Death I have heard in a long time. After two demos (of which the superb second one “Architects Of Perversity” sponsored 4 songs for this actual 15 tracker as well) they finally signed a deal with “Ludwigshafen Deathfest” organizer Dani and his Revenge Productions and now deliever over half an hour of mature brutality the American way. A blend of Disgorge (CA) and Gorgasm says the label; personally I would add a strong Odius Mortem factor (“Devouring The Prophecy” times) to this description regarding the vast amount of breaks and the overall complexity of the material presented here. But anyway, this is by all means the modern blasting Death Metal school represented by Unique Leader Records and the likes, and it’s just damn cool (did I already mention that?). Weird, sometimes slamming twin-guitar work, killer blastbeats by ex-Castigate drummer Thorsten Bertram (so everybody still remembering that band, you know what you get here, just a few levels ahead…) and fine guttural insanity, all clad in a professional and massive sound by East Frisian soundwizard Jörg Uken at the Soundlodge Studio. Professional artwork by Niklas / Infested (another branch of German hopefuls by the way). Anything else? Yeah, they already have a new vocalist called Brice, and if you haven’t had the opportunity to catch these friendly fuckers live at several Deathfe(a)sts already, get your ass up the next time!
