SURRENDER OF DIVINITY
Manifest Blasphemy
(From Beyond Productions / Displeased Records)

The blasphemous hordes from Thailand are back and torturing Christianity again. Well, if you like raw Black Metal, you definitely feel not tortured, quite the contrary! SURRENDER OF DIVINITY are crawling the underground for several years by now and released one full-length, two 7″es and two split-CDs. “Manifest Blasphemy” is their first release on From Beyond Productions, a sub-label of Displeased Records. Musically covering the whole variety of Black Metal, from slow, cross-crushing to fast, flesh-slicing, at every time the spearhead of the Asian Black Metal scene. If you like IMPIETY (their unholy partners on one split-CD) or SABBAT, you either got this output on your list or you are missing something. What makes me so enthusiastic about this album is the powerful way the songs are performed. No fillers here, each song is a splendid satanic sacrifice. The production is first-rate, yet without losing any atmosphere. The vocalist is screaming the typical Black Metal way and I know that shrieky vocals are not everyone’s favour, but this high-pitched, gargling voice is just appropriate. The cover-artwork is, like the whole album, superb. The theme might be a little bit cliché (demons torturing Jesus), but the way the picture is drawn is outstanding. I have not seen such great artwork for a long time. By just watching the cover you can feel the ancient Black Metal spirit which is floating around this output. Last info: the CD includes a live clip from 2004. Label contact www.displeasedrecords.com
