This is only for the open-minded. Another review about a supercool crossover kinda band, namely SWITCH OPENS from Sweden. Formerly also known as FINGERSPITZENGEFÜHL. It doesn´t matter under which name these guys are sailing. They always rule. It cost me another trip to Stockhom, Sweden to buy their latest (2012) release "Joint Clash" at Sound Polution Record Store. Why ordering via the internet when you can travel, right? \m/ To put things straight. SWITCH OPENS are not another Stoner or Sludge band. I don’t know who categorized them on the internet with that mark!? Bollocks. If you would force me to put them into a style drawer, I would might compare their music to bands like BLACK SABBATH, LED ZEPPELIN, FAITH NO MORE, SOUNDGARDEN, FUGAZI, HÜSKER DÜ, THE MELVINS and late 90s ENTOMBED. Also I would add a breeze of 60s / 70s Prog (Kraut-) Rock to the mix. Anyway. They are heavy and they rule. Ey. They played live together with ENTOMBED and Johan Liiva’s current band / project NONEXIST. Heavy Metal enough for ya, now? \m/ But not enough. These guy are delivering the grooves, psychedelic edges, melancholic and enlighten moments on "Joint Clash". And what great melodies. Just check out songs like ‘Mirror Man’ or ‘Chemistry’ for example. A real musical revelation.
