This band should by no means be confused with their namesakes from Sweden who released a fine mini CD on Nuclear Winter Records. According to the promo sheet this Norwegian five-piece here delivers oppressive melodic Black Metal. Well, melodic is exactly the case here but oppressive? No way. This is nice melodic “Black” Metal with some nice artwork. Actually everything is so nice that I don’t think any reader of Voices will give a flying fuck about this record at all. WINDIR and NAGLFAR are mentioned as influences and at least the Swedish bit (boring melodies and ball-less attempts at Heavy Metal riffing) is quite dominant. Technically the band is skilled enough to play their material, also the production is quite ok. I honestly do not know what to write more about “The Alleviaton” as it is just another unimpressive and superfluous record in an endless row of boring melodic Death / Black releases. www.sworn.no
