Jesus Christ, this one is far away from being any catchy!!! SYMBYOSIS is a band-project (two members, one “composer” and a lead guitar-player) from France debuting with “Crisis” on Listenable Records (Hail, Mr. Merle!) and the credits on the album might actually be helpful as hint for their musical whereabouts: CYNIC, DEVIN TOWNSEND, CORONER, ATHEIST, STEVE VAI and then add some major edge of bombastic Black Metal feel as well as plenty of samples and zillions lead-guitar passages to understand that “Crisis” is a well performed, technical extreme Metal “concept”-album. Still, to me personally SYMBIOSIS sound ways to clinical due to the use of programmed drums and a sheer wall-of-sound sample-overload. But let’s face it: We are living in an age of modern recording facilities and computers and I can imagine that some people will really get into this. Guess I’m gonna go for some handmade old SLAYER album now ; -)
