On their debut album, this four-piece from northern Germany delivers wonderfully powerful Death / Thrash Metal with a strong old school feeling. That means that THE DAMNATION are not up to break any hyperspeed limits (although they play fast), but that they are more focused on catchy songs in general, comprising memorable guitar riffs and leads, brutal but comprehensible vocals and forceful rhythms. What I especially like are the energetic Thrash beats and the few slower but more atmospheric parts which convey a dark and vile vibe. All 11 songs come up with their own interesting ideas; there are no boring repetitions or even weak tracks. Altogether, there’s nothing for me to criticize on this release, it’s an excellent debut with strong songwriting and good production. If you’re into good old Death / Thrash Metal, check this one out.
