THE ETHEREAL
From Funeral Skies

The Funeral Doom world is a bleak place – stripped of all hope and honestly speaking not really a music style full of new ideas and extraordinary releases. All bands are working with the same weapons to describe their own punishable life and the friendly use of the exit gate called suicide is often more method instead of real desire. But there are still releases which are more black than others and which makes me shiver, even in summertime. One of these rare releases is “From Funeral Skies” the debut of THE ETHEREAL – a Belgium project – and my dear friends from Stygian Crypt realized the potential and re-released this great album in 2005 (strictly limited to 1000 copies). The album has been released in 2002 (as pure underground album) and the re-release was originally planned by Rage Of Achilles – a further label which quickly disappeared due to financial problems – and next to the three original songs a further 16 minutes bonus track (‘From Funeral Skies’) has been added. The band is fully concentrating on their apocalyptic atmosphere and every song is like a small hymn to darkness and despair and the album really deserves the title “Hymns To The Fallen”. “From Funeral Skies” is like a black hole into another universe and everybody who has grown up with the suicidal world of BETHLEHEM (the first 2-3 releases) will for sure join this dark trip. I’m not really sure if the album is still available so please check following page. www.stygiancrypt.com
