THE HELL
Welcome To...

I don’t know many bands from Serbia, I actually know only ‘The Other Side Of Reality’ by SCAFFOLD, one of the few significant albums coming from ex Yugoslavia. So I was very curious to discover these guys, also from Belgrade. THE HELL formed in 2013, this is their first release ever, so they preferred to focus just on a full-length album without making demos or EPs before it. However, even if we’re talking about a rather new band, all the members are not youngsters. They’re instead enough experts to make a well-defined Death Metal album like ‘Welcome To…’, co-released by the Russian Satanath Records, the Spanish Morbid Shrine Productions and the Macedonian Darzamadicus Records almost a year ago. Yes, this is 100% Death Metal, mainly influenced by both the American and the European masters. The opener ‘Welcome To Our World’ heavily reminds of MALEVOLENT CREATION; if ‘The One Who Brings Redemption’, ‘The Human Harvest Fields’ or ‘Lemarchand’ do it between DEICIDE (above all “Serpents Of The Light”) and VADER, ‘Spiritual Necrosis’ brings Jon Nödtveidt from DISSECTION into the source of their inspiration. So there are both brutal and melodic riffs, good solos and a solid rhythm section with a good work of double bass drum. The singer Tamerlan doesn’t use only growling vocals (when he does, they’re not very deep) but he alternates them with vile screams and some spoken verses. All things considered, “Welcome To…” is a decent product but it is also a bit generic in my opinion. You have an ‘already done’ impression at the end of this album, but of course it’s not always a negative aspect if you’re not tired of traditional Death Metal.
