THE SHATTERING
The Shattering Begins

Fast, technical groove-laden Death / Grind which incorporates elements and influences raging from Death Metal, Thrash and traditional Metal through to Jazz! These are the words from their promo-sheet. Well, I think descriptions like “as fast as possible”, “as progressive as possible” and “as melodious as possible” could fit very well, too! While listening to that debut album of these Scandinavians you always will recognise the unbelievable sound of the drums (snare). It is sounding as dry as the Sahara. Usually it is a thing I hate, but if you listen to their music more carefully you can just over-see that worse sound. The riffs of the guitar are sounding brutal, old-styled but also hectically and weird sometimes. Fortunately these hectically and progressive sounding riffs don’t over-weight the whole album. For all those into (later) Death, Grave and Cryptopsy this album must be a real blood-feast. You should check out at least ‘Enter Bullet’ and ‘Grind The Face Of Innocence’. Negative things are some lyrics, but I guess that’s the mentioned influence of Grindcore! www.retributerecords.com.
