THRON from the Black Forest in Southern Germany are active now since 2015. Already their first output in 2017 caught my attention and since then, I followed their development. They have managed to grow from album to album and “Dust” is album number four now. What started as a homage to ’90s Black Metal and to mighty DISSECTION has developed into a Black Metal act which has to be taken very serious when it comes to European Black Metal. Already the predecessor “Pilgrim” has shown a huge development in songwriting and instrumentation, but “Dust” is top notch and another huge step forward. The Opener ‘Dying In The Mud’ and also the second track ‘Return’ continue where they stopped with “Pilgrim”. Both tracks offer solid, melodic Black Metal in the vein of DISSECTION and NAGLFAR. The huge developments show up in track three, ‘The True Belief’, which offers a far more melodic approach with a good doze of classic Heavy Metal and has some heavy vibes of NECROPHOBIC paired with TRIBULATION. Definitely a step forward and the classic and sometimes even progressive tunes sound pretty cool. And I really like how they combine this new direction with their classic Black Metal roots. Songs like ‘Martyr’, ‘In The Tyranny Of I’ and ‘The Wrong God’ deliver both, a fantastic lyrical concept and matured intense cold, but always melodic Black Metal. This time all pieces fit together perfectly for THRON. Songwriting, lyrics and a fantastic production paired with a pretty good cover artwork and optimized label support from Listenable, offering the album in various cool editions. The band has grown into a really big thing and quality wise play in the same league as the mentioned NECROPHOBIC or NAGLFAR. Fans of this certain style can purchase this one blind, for the others, I can recommend to check the album and one of the following sources: www.facebook.com/thronkvlt, www.facebook.com/listenablerecs
