THRONE
The Full Moon Sessions

Vic Records recently released a compilation featuring almost all demo material as well as two unreleased tracks (‘Beyond Morbid’, ‘Full Moon Whore’) by dutch duo Bob Bagchus and A.J. Van Drenth, better (or lesser) known as THRONE. Back in the early 90s both ex – ASPHYX members got together to create a primitive hybrid of Death, Doom and Black Metal. THRONE managed to release all three demos within the very un-Metal year of 1995 and thereby kept the flame of ancient Metal darkness alive. "The Full Moon Sessions“ deliver a very nice sounding (total basement Metal blasphemies!) anthology of this very creative timespan and consists of everything that makes you ghouls and necrophilliacs out there smirk! While mostly sticking to the formula of doomy melodies and heavy riffs THRONE also like to include Black Metal trademarks into their songwritting. Especially the second and eighth song ‘Sonic Carnage’ conjures this special kind of pitch black darkness. My personal highlight of this release is the opener ‘Oppressor Of The Underworld’ which is a perfect track for nocturnal strolls through ones favorite graveyard. Fans of xeroxed tapecovers, true and unpolished rehearsel room madness as well as real underground Metal spirit in general should definitely give this release a listen if not familiar with THRONE.
