How could this be just 14 minutes long? I need more of this goddamnit! THY CURSE play a primitive, unbridled, maddenning, no holds barred old school Death Metal. Frankly, listening to this is like going back in time into a barely lit pub with a terrible backline, watered drinks and full of friends. The guitars are an absolute feast, the solos are MORBID ANGEL like ferocious just going everywhere without restraint. The vocals are a delight, they’re casting an incantation all through rising above the mix delightfully. They sound like a 20 year younger Ross Dolan. The mix is fantastic and the songs just power through giving each instrument their due. THY CURSE is a band’s band! This is perhaps the vision most fans have when kickstarting but eventually waver. THY CURSE is unrelenting in their execution, they’ve simply decided to raise the darkest hell and pull you into the abyss with chaotically hypnotic solos coupled with a sedulous focus on wreaking havoc. Frankly everyone needs to check this release out. If you’re a Death Metal fan, this needs to go onto your playlist right now! It truly captures the spirit of the genre and is an absolutely fantastic introduction by the band. I’ll definitely keep an eye out on their next release.
