To be honest, after checking the album cover art and the band pics, I was almost 100% sure my ears should suffer the attempts from a new Dimmu Borgir clone from Norway, but after the first riffs of the opening track ‘Gautatyrs Vrede’ my face showed a twisted expression. The reason is very simple, this album kicks ass!!!! Direct, intense and cold freezing Black Metal which reminds of classic opuses like “Pure Holocaust” (Immortal), “Transilvanian Hunger” (Darkthrone – but not the sound) and some touches of current classics like “Casus Luciferi” (Watain) and “Dodens Evangelium” (Ondskapt). The structures are merely based on the classic true Norwegian Black Metal sound as done by bands like Taake, Tsjuder and Urgehal nowadays, (un)blessed with a very good production, maybe it sounds like an exaggeration, but these guys have delivered an awesome and impressive debut album, because nowadays not much bands do it that way. Obviously there are a couple of details to be fixed, like to take the influences away and start to create an own sound. It’s really difficult to continue because these guys have done a great job so it only remains to recommend this record. www.twilight-vertrieb.de, www.thyruz.com
