On their third album, TIDFALL from Norway give their interpretation of modern, futuristic Black Metal. DIMMU BORGIR seem to be an obvious influence on their work but TIDFALL avoid just to imitate. The variety of guitar work and well structured songs are appealing but what really gives me a headache about this album is the exaggerated use of keyboards. The synthesizer gimmicks on this album on one hand support the cold, futuristic atmosphere, on the other hand they sound like a techno soundtrack. So if you are into modern Black Metal and / or not afraid of keyboards you should definitely check out this release, but if you like it the old school way do not waste time and money on this one.
