It’s Death Metal-time again. TOMBTHROAT already exist for 10 years and I’m afraid to say that this is my first time to hear a release from them. Checking their discography I see that they released one demo in 1999 as well as 5 albums including this new one "Blood Red History". TOMBTHROAT don’t invent a new brand of Death Metal, but it’s great fun listening to the brutal songs they present here. They call it brutal Death Metal and that’s exactly what you get here. 11 songs sometimes fast, sometimes midpaced but always groovy as hell. As I said, it’s great fun listening to this CD and I’m really looking forward to see them live somewhere as I can imagine that they kick ass!! One great bonus: the last song ‘Bloodstained’ starts very much in the vein of old Swedish bands like UNANIMATED or AT THE GATES and first up I thought it’s a coversong which is wrong. After one minute TOMBTHROAT go back to their usual style of Death Metal. I like these kind of ideas… For all fans of brutal Death Metal which don’t care for originality and want to get it traditional this is a release worth to buy.
