Finnish TRAMALIZER dip their toes into a suddenly hot genre, Swedish Death Metal and approach “Fumes Of Funeral Pyres” with as much ferociousness that they can muster. My immediate band association is GRAVE, if you like GRAVE then you will love TRAMALIZER. However, GRAVE (and ENTOMBED) always had some eerie sections of atmosphere that’d set up the tones for the evil that they chant, TRAMALIZER simply plough through with better production thereby having a well rounded outlet to their rage. As heavy as GOD MACABRE, TRAMALIZER doesn’t waste a second of your time. The vocals are higher in the mix which isn’t necessarily a great thing but it’s alright here. I’d have really loved to hear more of the chainsaw guitars but that’s perhaps for the next time. One of my favourite tracks on this album is ‘Point Of No Turning Back’, it’s literally got everything you can lust for. Beautiful melodic solos that immediately transport you to DISMEMBER, insanely tight rhythm sections that just bulldoze everything mid-way and vocals that carry the track forward with the necessary aggression. I’ve to be honest, I’ve not heard of TRAMALIZER earlier but I’m now eager to check out what else they have put out? (Okay, sometimes the vocals do get in the way!). There are two songs on the album that serve as a respite between all the rage, the first is ‘Rage’ and the second is ‘Plain Evil’, which are really well done and appropriately placed in the album. I really enjoyed them! “Fumes Of Funeral Pyres” is a through and through Swedish Death Metal album that all fans will enjoy, there are a few points here and there that you can point out but it’s fun, fast and well done!
