Ladies and gents, it’s getting weird. This demo is for the lovers of the bizarre. In 2014 three individuals named Gregg il Macellaio, Vanessa Nocera and Stevo do Caixão obviously thought it was about time to put down a four tracker, to show the world their very own interpretation of disturbing soundscapes. Some might have stumbled upon the name Stevo and immediately have a certain band in mind. You’re damn right it’s Stevo from good old sickos IMPETIGO! Sorry, that I have to disappoint each and everyone that expected IMPETIGO 2.0; this is something completely different. Stevo and his fellows indulge in their preference for Italian horror movies. And that is the only thing TWIST ENDING has in common with Stevo’s cult band. We dive into the realms of stripped to the bone Metal / Punk craziness, combined with a horror / gore attitude. ‘Tormentula (La Tarantola Dal Ventre Nero)’ starts with some extracts from the movie and after about 2 minutes the music finally sets in. You get some vocals with a slight reverb, very simple drumming and guitars, combined with some up-tempo eruptions. The second and third track even have some elements of contemporary DARKTHRONE during their "F.O.A.D" and "Black Flags…" period meets ABSCESS and slightly MASTER / DEATHSTRIKE (some vocal parts speak with a Speckmann accent). Maybe this might be going too far for some readers, but the simple bass lines and the hypnotic drumming at the beginning of ‘Evil Iris, Summoner Of Misery (Buio Omega)’ also reminds me on JOY DIVISION. The fourth and also last track ‘Music Of Death ~Trailer (La Corta Note Delle Bambole Di Vetro)’ is, well, what is it? It’s no music in the common sense, just movie samples and that’s it. To me the whole tape contains way too less music in general and since I’m not the biggest fan of that endless sampling, I would prefer to go for the original movie soundtracks instead. But everyone into freaky music with a horror / giallo approach should dare a listen. It’s quite enjoyable anyway.
