Ultra lo-fi Swedish Black / Punk / Thrash Metal. Formed by members of THE BLACK and VINTERLAND, they choose this very original name to storm damnation upon all our pitiful souls. If there was ever a doubt that Black Metal and Punk were coming from the same root, TYRANT will clear all those doubts. Imagine the sound of VENOM, DISCHARGE and BATHORY colliding side by side. With the DISCHARGE influence being probably the main one. Although it sounds a lot like HELLHAMMER, specially in the more mid-tempo songs, actually this is the result of the heavy Punk influence. Yes, very simple riffs, and execution, but this is more the kind of band I would prefer to listen to than a crappy technical Death Metal band or grim Norsecore. Mostly there’s mid-tempo songs and some fast Thrashers like ‘Hell Has Broken Loose’ although a couple of faster songs would have made this more enjoyable. Also very Punk is the attitude of leaving the recording with a dirty, yet very powerful sound, and not editing things like noises at the beginning / end of the songs. I would like to think they recorded this thing almost live in the studio, to give it a more direct sound. Yes, nothing original, way too many clichés, but then again I do not care, as the music is very honest. Love it or hate it, I will just headbang to it and do a devil horn sign to this evil Rock and Roll. www.listenable.net
