Ukraine has become a source of many atmospheric and experimental projects over the last decade. U KRONAKH entered into this during 2020, and their second album, “Night Devours Being”, is another exploration of atmospheric Black metal and Death Metal that showcases the experimental prowess of Artem “Voidger”s one-man project. Released back in 2024, this album continues the journey initiated in their debut, “Stonewounds”, but delves deeper into rawness and atmosphere. Clocking in at 39:32 minutes, the album features five tracks with the characteristic lengthy song structures. With the beginning of ‘Marks Of Primordial’ and forward to ‘Empty Grey Path’, ‘Fading Sun’ and ‘The Branches Sang To The Frozen Winds’, each track showcases U KRONAKH’s ability to weave together the layers of Black and Death Metal with atmospheric depths, and the capability of creating an immersive experience. The slower tempos and layered melodies create a sense of introspection, as if invitations to reflect on the primordial essence of existence. Lyrically, the album paints vivid images of ancient perceptions and the struggles of humanity, wrapped in an atmosphere that evokes a sense of both beauty and dread. The album cover depicts that perfectly. With all these, in “Night Devours Being” can be a compelling listen for fans of atmospheric Metal and should spread out the name of U KRONAKH.
