Darkness… Despair… Faint… Desolation… All of this within the boundaries of the blackest of hearts. What else can I say about this demo? UNRU is a new monstrous four-piece from Germany, bred in the AJZ (Autonomous Youth Center) Bielefeld, a place that has a good standing in the Punk scene for more than 25 dedicated years of alternative music events. Here they developed into a unit of distortion and devastation since 2012. This "Demo MMXIII" is the first offering from UNRU to those with no weak heart. It features 11 tracks, five of them are instrumental, an intro, an outro and three interludes (just named ‘I’ to ‘V’), that guide the listener through this masterpiece. But these are just islands of peace in an inferno of darkness and confusion. From the malicious opener ‘Ich Bin Der Hexenmeister’ (‘I Am The Sorcerer’) over the infernal dark crusher ‘Aber Waren Die, Die Schrien, Die Wuchsen?’ (‘But Were Those, Who Screamed, Who Grew?’) to the final furious blast ‘Geh In Einen See Bei Nacht’ (‘Head Into A Lake At Night’), there will be no other peace for the listener. Imagine a blacker version of any Crust band you might know, or the most crusty version of any Black Metal band you ever heard, and you might get a rough idea of how UNRU sound. Just check the ferocious ‘Zwischen Ungeheuern Und Dem Möglichen’ (‘Between Monsters And The Possible’). Even darker than ISKRA, meaner than LEGION 666 and more disturbing than DOWNFALL OF GAIA.
