Again ATMF, again a Latin title – but this time a completely different story. On their latest album “Iter Ad Lucem” URNA are starting a voyage to the bottom of the human soul. The band is part of the Italian underground since 2004 and even if the band had been unknown to me so far their third release is a very interesting trip to the abyss. The terminus Esoteric Funeral Doom seems to some degree exaggerated but URNA are offering more than the standard two riff 45 minutes Doom album. “Iter Ad Lucem” is like an old painting – with a lot of colors but the main color remains black. What a lot of the Funeral Doom releases are missing – can be found here – some further influences from abroad and URNA sometimes offering vague parallels to cult acts like BETHLEHEM (their “Thy Pale Dominion “EP / “Dark Metal” debut). This Italian two man band has recorded a very good release which should be interesting for the pure Funeral Doom but also for the normal Black Metal fans – so invite Death and let the warm blood slip through your fingers! www.atmf.net, www.myspace.com/urnaproject
