“Drapsdalen” is the first full length album from the Norwegian band VALDAUDR. These guys were already involved in pretty known projects such as COBOLT 60, BLOOD RED THRONE and SATYRICON. They play old school Norwegian Black Metal (second wave) with some Folk elements and epic stuff. Nothing special, but the result is pretty good. You can easily hear influences from bands like IMMORTAL (especially the vocals), DARKTHRONE, TAAKE, ULVER etc. “Drapsdalen” consists of seven songs for almost 38 minutes of music. You can find all the ingredients of ’90s Norwegian Black Metal: raspy screamings, euroblast drumming alternated with D-Beats, mid tempos and slow parts, catchy riffs and some arpeggio here and there. You get the all-inclusive package here. In conclusion, this is an honest album that follows the old trend of Norwegian Black Metal to the letter and that’s definitely a good thing. Last but not least the logo and the front cover artwork are pretty bad, but the music is pretty enjoyable and that’s what really matters.
