VEMOTH
Köttkroksvals

The Swedish music scene will ever stay a mystery for me. How can such a small country with approx. 9 million inhabitants carry so many great bands? VEMOTH are one of these bands. Well, I have to start with two things which are not great about VEMOTH. First up, the singer didn’t really convince me and they may not be the most original band around. But what you get here are over 40 minutes of Swedish Black Metal with Death Metal elements now and then which draw its influences out of acts like MARDUK, DARK FUNERAL or faster NAGLFAR and in its most melodious moments also from DISSECTION. This may not sound too original at all, still I have to tell you that what VEMOTH are doing they are aware of every moment. All of the musicians fit so perfectly together and it’s amazing to hear each instrument clearly and this even more supports their great musicianship. Indeed, the perfect sound on “Köttkroksvals” totally fits to their brand of blackish Death Metal or how you ever wanna call it. This is one more great release from this new rising label from Spain called Temple Of Darkness Records. With their next release VEMOTH will surely convince even more, though this release already should appeal to all fans of the above mentioned bands, because songs like ‘Blodregn’, ‘Köttkroksvals’ or ‘Acceptera Eller Dö’ are far more than their usual standard. Check out mailorders like www.metribution.com or get in touch with the label directly at www.templeofdarknessrecords.com.
