Even though there’s already been countless of releases by Polish bands, the country rarely gave birth to any groundbreaking innovators, that were able to set new standards in the underground. The hordes of often very skilled musicians mainly followed already established paths, but at least tend to do that in a very impressive manner. In most cases it was the Florida type Death Metal that became a big source of inspiration overthere, but then again there’s bands like VESANIA, that are exceptions to that rule. What they do has also been done before already, but they do it with so much dedication that it’s still a very entertaining experience listening to their debut full length. Musically VESANIA stands for symphonic, yet very harsh and devastating Black Metal that often reminds me on what our buddies from LUNAR AURORA delivered with their still unmatched debut "Weltengänger" a couple of years ago. There’s a similar form of ice cold northern grimness mixed with hymnic sounding keyboard sequences, elements that already turned EMPEROR’s "In The Nightside Eclipse" into an alltime Black Metal classic. "Firefrost Arcanum" has got a very menacing and overall quite sinister atmosphere, an uncompromising full force Black Metal approach, it is very heavy in itself and their vocalist is blessed with one hell of a demonic voice. Instead of blasting their way through the approximately fifty minutes the band was clever enough to incorporate a couple of slower passages and breaks into their songwriting so that it never gets boring if you listen to the album over and over again. So, all those of you who neither can’t stand the mainstream Gothic type "Black Metal" nor the very basic DARKTHRONE style should definitely check these guys out as it’s certainly a first quality release from a band with a very bright future!
